EXPOSITION ANNE GUERRIN ET GÉRARD JAN

For its last exhibition of 2024, the Fleury gallery in Lodève invites you to meet two artists who should fill your heart with joy and peace.
Anne Guerrin and Gérard Jan are our guests to end the year on a high note.

Anne Guerrin lives and works in La Tour-sur-Orb. She studied for five years at Prométer, an excellent training center for the ceramic arts. Today, her work is demanding. A block of white stoneware with a slightly chamotte body takes the form of a standing human figure. Successive firings reveal a delicate, refined skin on which real landscapes can be read. There is a gentle depth in the shapes of these objects, a noble posture defying the pains of the world.

Gérard JAN, born in 1961 in the Minervois region of France, lives and works in Oupia.
Since childhood, he has made drawing his mode of expression. He studied painting and engraving with the painter Jules Olivier Berchet, then drawing and engraving with René Izaure at the Beaux Arts in Toulouse. For over 20 years, he excelled in engraving romantic representations of ruins, like his masters Piranèse, Corot and Hubert Robert. Then came the time of his "journeys to Italy". He abandoned engraving. Italian landscapes invited him to use color. He chose the pastel stick to respond. These luminous, color-saturated paintings show us the beauty of the built environment, surrounded by organized, idealized nature. His work with black continues, however, with the monotype. Both techniques are featured in the exhibition.
